KIDS’ FILM LOUNGE

STOW FILM LOUNGE is delighted to announce “KIDS’ FILM LOUNGE”, a free and fun filled celebration of children’s cinema online on Saturday mornings at 11am from the 2nd May. Please follow this link to watch- YOUTUBE

Inspired by five decades of the Children’s Film Foundation’s (C.F.F.) iconic productions and embracing the anarchy, innocence and nostalgia of the Saturday Morning Pictures experience, we begin with the online premiere of THE TRICYCLE THIEF, a children’s adventure film made by STOW FILM LOUNGE in Walthamstow. The subsequent weeks will feature more exclusive films and original documentaries that celebrate kids on screen and children in cinema.

THE TRICYCLE THIEF is the first children’s feature ever made in Walthamstow and the first film made by STOW FILM LOUNGE. After a world premiere at the iconic Granada cinema on Hoe Street E17 4QH, and numerous sold out screenings across the Borough, it will now be available online. Featuring a cast of kids and over 50 talented local residents, it was filmed right here in North East London during that long hot summer of 2018.

Join us as we celebrate, not only childhood and cinema, but also our brilliant community in a rollicking adventure filmed across the sunny streets of the Borough. You may recognise some faces and scenery with many familiar places throughout the film, such as @hucks_cafe, @walthamstow_cycles, #walthamstowtownhall, #cartersregularsummersteamfair, #williammorrismuseum @WMGallery #lloyd park, #theancient house, #chestnutfields @stmaryswalthamstow

This is our homage to when children’s weekends began with a memorable morning trip to a bustling cinema. Every seat in the house was taken as millions of kids across the land enjoyed the flicks. Now you and your family can savour some of the delights and memories from the comfort of your own sofa and just like those Saturday morning serials we will be releasing the film in parts via @YouTube followed in the future by more original film material.

Join us for KIDS FILM LOUNGE by following us on our YouTube channel and tuning in at 11am on Saturday 2nd May.

We can’t wait to share this with you. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

The wonderful Scribble & Smudge run the film related craft sessions at our Kids’ Film Lounges.  Here are some examples of the incredible work which featured the children’s work and was then screened after the main feature film. They will be joining us online to give you all the inspiration you need!
