STOW FILM LOUNGE @ WALTHAM FOREST TOWN HALL
FRIDAY 13th MARCH
THE FOYER, FOREST ROAD, WALTHAMSTOW, LONDON E17 4JF
Stow Film Lounge is excited to present an exclusive E17 film event, a screening of the acclaimed Eleanor Coppola’s Documentary HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse AND the launch of THE LAST KINGS OF HOLLYWOOD, a fabulous new film book from the acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker, writer and producer Paul Fischer - who is flying over from North America to join us.
Years in the creating, this book is an intimate, extraordinary and entertaining tale of how three young unknowns - Coppola, Lucas and Spielberg - risked everything, broke the Hollywood studio mould, fell- out, made-up and remade modern American cinema in the process.
These three visionaries - along with Scorsese - created the films so many of us cherish and admire - The Godfather, Jaws, Star Wars, ET, Raiders Of the Lost Ark, Close Encounters, Taxi Driver and Apocalypse Now.
Celebrate these films and filmmakers and the significant smart women who creatively contributed to the 1970s Cinematic revolution - hence our screening of Eleanor Coppola’s stunning movie now remastered in 4k.
Paul’s book is packed with new interviews, revelations and insights and is already getting rave reviews-
“Riveting, grade A smack for cinema junkies." - Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh
"A gripping thrill-ride through the lives of the flawed men who invented the modern American dreamscape.” - @NYTBooks
A unique cinematic celebration to experience and enjoy, hear incredible stories and share memories and enjoyment of many memorable movies along with the Eleanor Coppola’s stunning documentary and Paul Fischer in conversation - with copies of his wonderful book.

We continue our new “Popcorn Nights” programme at Signature Brew with another cracker - this new documentary made by the creator’s son.
From humble origins as a London fringe theatre play to its meteoric rise, fall and resurrection as the biggest cult film of all time, this is the definitive story of the Rocky Horror Show. With intimate access to its creator Richard O'Brien and other major players such as Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Lou Adler, the documentary explores what makes the play and film so singular: Its ground breaking and transgressive themes, iconic performances and epic songs that took over popular culture. The cult phenomenon that sprung around it is unparalleled, and created not only the midnight screenings which continue to this day, but also a safe haven for those who ever felt different or marginalized.

FRIDAY 10th APRIL

A choral society's male members enlist in World War I, leaving the demanding Dr. Guthrie to recruit teenagers. Together, they experience the joy of singing while the young boys grapple with their impending conscription into the army.
As war rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral's ambitious committee, determined to press ahead, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) -- driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together.
