Winner of a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, Scrapper is full of spirit, humour, and formal inventiveness that sets it apart from much of British working-class cinema. Dickinson and remarkable newcomer Campbell imbue irresistible charm into this moving and frequently hilarious story of two emotionally tangled people: a grieving kid thrust into adulthood and a father in over his head.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. We will also be serving freshly made popcorn.

Stow Film Lounge proudly presents a special outdoor screening of Mike Leigh’s much-loved comedy classic NUTS IN MAY on Sat 4th May.
When urbanite husband and wife, Keith Pratt (Roger Sloman) and Candice Marie (Alison Steadman) go camping in Dorset they’re hoping to find harmony in the countryside but their peaceful plans are disrupted by the presence of other campers.
This early Mike Leigh masterpiece features the fantastic characters and memorable moments that he’s renowned for, and with so many fans we are delighted to announce that Roger and Alison will be reunited for a special post-film Q&A - and possibly a few songs!
Join us to celebrate Mayday at Waltham Forest's Fellowship Square with Keith and Candice Marie where there will be on site refreshments, Pillars brewery, music and pre-film entertainment for this sustainable cinema event. So bring your picnic blankets, cushions or camping chairs to enjoy the great British outdoors with this rarely screened gem on our inflatable super screen in the superb surroundings of the Town Hall.
In the spirit and indomitable style of Keith and Candice Marie, the audience is encouraged to wear jumpers, legwarmers, flat caps and bobble hats!

Post-war working-class Liverpool life is impressionistically evoked in Terence Davies’ two-part film, by turns lyrical, humorous and horrific.
Set in a world before Elvis, a Liverpool before the Beatles, Terence Davies' debut feature is a remarkable evocation of working-class family life in the 40s and 50s and a visionary exploration of memory. These companion pieces, shot two years apart on tight budgets with BFI support, evoke his upbringing in Liverpool after the war in a working-class home dominated by the violence of his father, fearsomely played by then newcomer Pete Postlethwaite.
Davies achieves the rare feat of nostalgia without sentimentality, using dynamic lighting, a superb soundtrack and a fragmented structure to construct a distinctive drama suffused with both beauty and horror. From the home to the pub, the cinema to the beach, each locale suggests both charm and stifling limitation in a film that’s as concerned with the operation of memory as with its material setting.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. We will also be serving freshly made popcorn.

Proudly the “antithesis of the multiplex”, for more than a decade we have been touring our Time Out featured mobile repertory cinema through Waltham Forest and beyond, showing over 500 films at 40 venues to 30,000 people in the process.
Started as Stow Film Lounge in 2011 to bring regular commercial screenings back to the Waltham Forest (which at the time was one of only two London Boroughs to have no regular operating cinema) we bought kit, sourced venues and started programming. From Saturday morning kids’ pictures to silent cinema with live orchestra to outdoor screenings to one off cult movie events with Q&As, we deliver diverse bespoke audience screenings but also hit the spot with mainstream blockbusters, both in our home Borough and beyond.
